The Framework Interface Module (RIM) is the basic interface of the 3500 framework. It supports Bent's proprietary protocols for framing and retrieving information from the unit. The frame interface module must be placed in the first slot in the frame (next to the power supply). RIM can connect with compatible Bentley communication processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX. Although RIM provides some common features for the entire framework, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and has no impact on the correct and normal operation of the overall monitoring system. Each framework requires a framework interface module.

There is a RS-232 serial interface on the front panel, which can be connected with the host for data acquisition and frame configuration, the baud rate is up to 38.4K, and the cable length is required to be up to 30m. The rear I/O (input/output) module has a RS-232/RS-422 serial interface, which can also be

connected with the host for data acquisition and frame configuration, the maximum baud rate of 38.4K, the cable length: RS232 is the longest 30m, RS422 is the longest 1200m. The RS422 interface also enables multiple 3500 frames to communicate with the 3500 host software in a chain connection.
