What is artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human intelligence and problem-solving abilities.

Nowadays, AI systems have many practical applications. Here are some of the most common use cases:

Speech recognition

Speech recognition, also known as automatic speech recognition (ASR), computer speech recognition, or Speech to Text, uses NLP to process human speech into written format. Many mobile devices integrate speech recognition technology into their systems for voice search (such as Siri), or provide more accessibility for sending text messages in English or many widely used languages.

Customer service

Online virtual agents and chatbots are replacing human agents in the customer journey. They can answer common questions (FAQ) about transportation and other topics, or provide personalized advice, cross sell products, or suggest specifications for users, thereby changing the way we envision customer engagement on websites and social media platforms. Examples include: messaging robots with virtual proxies on e-commerce websites; Messaging application platforms such as Slack and Facebook Messenger; And tasks typically completed by virtual assistants and voice assistants.  

Supply chain

Adaptive robots make autonomous decisions based on information from Internet of Things (IoT) devices and structured and unstructured data. NLP tools can understand human speech and respond to what they hear. Predictive analysis is applied to demand response, inventory and network optimization, preventive maintenance, and digital manufacturing. Search and pattern recognition algorithms (no longer just predictive, but hierarchical) analyze real-time data to help supply chains respond to machine generated enhanced intelligence while providing real-time visibility and transparency.
