The 8502-B-Dp Bus nterface Modvle (BlM) provides the communicaions link betweenthe 8000 seres l0 modues and a profibus-Dp host. its hiah speed acauisiion of dotfom the modlles and LAN operation speeds ofupto 6 Mbaud alows the host to respond ropidly to conditions inthe control process. The BlM gathersthe dato from the l/omodules and makes it avalable to the hos upon reguest.lt is a slave to the Profilbus master.As wellas cycic data exchange,which is required for reading input and writingoutput data, the BlM supports Profibus Extended Diagnostics for status information.which have been implemented to allow highl aso suppors a numperofspecigintegrity system operation and in-situ maintenance.
The 8502 supports parameterisation fromthe Profibus master. This configures ona "per module" basis, .e. al the channels ona single module cary the same configuration.The configuration is created in a Profibus confiqurator using detoals provided in a G$D file.This method is fast and enables a confiquration to be buit based upon "logical'modules which represent the physicalmodules. Modules are added one at a time to the configuration and parameters are chosen to aply to allthe chanels of the module.Logical modules con be selected to provide HART status and proces variables inthe rofibus-Dp cyclic input telegram. in addition, for applicationswhere acces to many HARTvariables is reqvired,the HART"mgilbox'can be used. This technique collects HART variable as they are reguired; saving space in telegrams that are sometimes overworkedwith data. This method is available onlying parameterisation. The configuration is passed down from the Profibus master to the BlM at the start of the session. lf thesystem is stopped and re-started,the confiqurationis re-transmitted to the BlM,
