Functional Description
IC200CPUE05-CG is a CPU Module developed by GE. It is part of the VersaMax series. It is a powerful CPU module designed by GE for the VersaMax series, intended to serve as the central controller in industrial automation systems. This CPU module is equipped with a variety of features that make it highly versatile and capable of managing a large number of I/O points and modules.
Features
Designed to act as the system controller for up to 64 I/O modules, making it suitable for complex automation systems with extensive input/output requirements.
It supports a maximum of 2048 I/O points, ensuring that it can handle large-scale operations with ease.
It features a built-in Ethernet interface that allows it to communicate over a 10BaseT network. This interface supports both half and full-duplex operation, with automatic sensing that typically eliminates the need for user configuration.
This Ethernet capability enables the CPU to easily communicate with host computers or other GE Fanuc PLCs, facilitating data access and system integration.
Direct connection to RS-485/RS-232 adapters for programming and configuration.
Compatible with a wide range of I/O modules within the VersaMax series, making it a flexible choice for system expansions or upgrades.
Serial Ports
Port 1 (RS-232): This port comes with a 9-pin female connector and is primarily used for CPU operations. It can be configured for Serial I/O, SNP (Series Ninety Protocol) slave, and RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) slave operations. When the CPU is configured for Serial I/O, if enters, Stop mode, Port 1 will automatically revert to SNP slave mode.
Port 2 (RS-485): This port is equipped with a 15-pin female D-sub connector and can be used for programming, configuration, and updates. It is also capable of supplying power (up to 100 mA at 5VDC) to an external device, making it useful for powering small peripherals directly.
Automatic Switching: When using either port for RTU operations, the system automatically switches to SNP slave mode, ensuring seamless communication and control.
Operational Flexibility
Ethernet Restart Pushbutton: If Port 1 is configured for CPU use, its mode can be forcibly changed using the Ethernet Restart pushbutton. The port will remain in this mode until the PLC is power cycled or the button is pressed again, offering a convenient way to reset or adjust operations without needing to shut down the entire system.
Automatic Mode Reversion: In scenarios where the CPU enters Stop mode, and Port 1 is set for Serial I/O, the port will automatically return to SNP slave mode, ensuring continued communication.
EMC Installation Requirements
To comply with EN 55011 and FCC Class A radiated emissions, the control system that houses the module must be mounted in a metal enclosure if three or more modules are used. All surfaces of the enclosure must be grounded to adjacent surfaces to ensure electrical conductivity. External wiring must be routed through metal conduit or an equivalent, with the conduit securely mounted to the enclosure for proper grounding. Additionally, during installation, operation, or maintenance, personnel must ensure electrostatic discharge (ESD) is prevented by using grounded ESD straps or similar measures.
