ARCNET (Attached Resource Computer NETwork) Local Area Network technology was introduced in the early 1970s and maintained strong popularity long before Ethernet became mainstream. Even today, ARCNET is still widely used across various industries, including point-of-sale systems, industrial control environments, gaming machines, and other real-time applications.
Based on Datapoint ARCNET architecture, the system supports up to 255 nodes per network, operating at a data transfer rate of 2.5 Mbps. Because ARCNET uses token-passing as its media access method, it ensures a collision-free environment, making it highly suitable for deterministic and real-time communication.
